Social Studies - Region 10 Mock Trial 2009 Social Studies - Sub Heading
 
The Dallas Bar Association Mock Trial Committee is responsible for the organization and administration of the statewide high school mock trial program, which was established in 1979. The program is organized through the 20 Texas Education Agency's Regional Service Centers, reaches more than 200 Texas schools each calendar year, and involves more than 4500 students annually.

Region 10 Competition Details

The first day of the Region 10 Mock Trial competition will take place on January 31, 2009. All teams will report to the Crowley Courts Building located at 133 N. Industrial Blvd. in Dallas by 8 am. Three rounds of competition will take place on day one. Each team will participate in each round as long as an even number of teams participate. If not, one team will have a bye in each of the three rounds. If 20 or more teams compete on day one, we will send three teams to the state competition in March.

Reception Information Downloads

A reception will take place at the Belo Mansion immediately following the first day of competition on January 31st. Teams are asked to proceed to the Belo and park in the underground garage located on Olive Street. Parking usually costs $3.00, but is subject to change.

 

The following information will be sent to all teams in January. All are invited to attend the reception immediately following the competition. We hope to have a photographer available to take team pictures. Here's a headstart for those of you who would like to begin notifying students and parents about the January 31st evening event:

 

 

The top eight teams will be announced and receive awards. These eight teams will advance to the final rounds of competition on Saturday February 7th at Crowley Courthouse.

Competition Day

The first day of competition consists of three rounds of competition. Teams will randomly choose a packet in the morning. Enclosed will be the team's letter designation for the competition. All team members, coaches, attorneys and visitors will be required to display the letter on the outside of their clothing during the competition. Team members and visitors will only be allowed in courtrooms where their team is competing. Additional information regarding the competition is available below:

 

Each team is asked to prepare 3-4 team rosters for each round of competition. This form is provided to the judges in preparation for hearing your case. The roster was provided in your case packet and available for download below in addition to the entire procedures and forms packet and regulation time cards (you must use these).
