I. The Basics: Establishing Effective Mentoring Processes

• TxBESS Activity Profile Training - Two consultants will provide 12 hours of training (two days of six hours each) for mentors regarding mentor support behaviors as well as the implementation of the TxBESS Activity Profile (TAP). The TAP process addresses support for early career teachers regarding planning and professionalism as well as in instruction and management. Participants will practice observation and feedback processes. This training is best offered prior to the beginning of the school year. In that way, mentors will be ready to support early career teachers immediately. Each participant will receive a TxBESS Activity Profile Training Manual, a TxBESS Activity Profile, and two TxBESS Frameworks.
  Program Services Fee: $2500
  Materials: $10.00 per participant (Limit 40 participants per session)

• Trainer of Trainers in TxBESS Activity Profile Process - This five day training includes the four day TxBESS Activity Profile Training and results in certification of local trainers for the TxBESS Activity Profile.
  Program Services Fee: $5000.
  Materials: $25.00 per participant (Limit 40 participants per session)

• TxBESS Mentoring and the Administrator - This three hour seminar focuses on the critically important role of administrators in the support and retention of early career teachers and their mentors. On-going technical and consultative services will be provided.
  Program Services Fee: $500
  Materials: $5.00 per participant (Limit 40 participants per session)

• Mentor online professional development modules - Topic examples: Beginning Teachers as Adult Learners, Classroom Management Strategies, Providing Effective Feedback, and Effective Communication and Collaboration
  Program Services Fee: $30 for each hour of online training per mentor

• Technical assistance - for needs assessment, extended program planning, and long term implementation of TxBESS Program Standards.
  Consulting Fee: $500 for one full day/two half days

II. Beyond the Basics: Enhancing Effective Mentoring Processes

• Mentoring the Mentors - This one day six hour workshop focuses on mentoring strategies beyond the first six weeks of school. Tips and techniques for thriving while meeting mentoring roles and responsibilities will be addressed. This training is best offered after the first six weeks of school.
  Program Services Fee: $500
  Materials: $5.00 per participant (Limit 40 participants per session)

• Professional Growth Conversations - This one day six hour seminar will focus on mentor conversation strategies that enable the early career teacher to reflect on his/her own work, and to use problem solving strategies as well as to identify professional growth behaviors. This training is best offered after the first semester of teaching.
  Program Services Fee: $500
  Materials: $5.00 per participant (Limit 40 participants per session)

• Technical assistance - for needs assessment, extended program planning, and long term implementation of TxBESS Program Standards.
  Consulting Fee: $500 a day

III. Additional Support Activities

• Mentor online support modules - tailored to district needs and processes
  Cost: $30 per hour for each mentor

• Mentor face-to-face training modules - tailored to district needs
  Cost: $600 for a six hour session and $5.00 for materials per participant

• Newsletters - to support mentors and beginning teachers
  Cost: 4 pages/4 issues a year = $200 per district
  OR 2 pages/6 issues a year =$150 per district
  Cost: $30 per hour for each mentor
